Cement consumption in Spain increased by three per cent to 1.3Mt in October when compared with October 2018. The rise has been attributed to an increase in housing construction. In the first 10 months of the year demand increased by eight per cent. Indonesia saw cement demand advance by 1.9 per cent YoY to 7,326,461t in October 2019 from 7,187,897t in October 2018, as reported by Semen Indonesia. Market expansion was largest in Sulawesi where volumes were up by 18.5 per cent to 661,453t YoY while Nusa Tenggara reported a 13.2 per cent increase in sales to 444,057t in October 2019. Chilean cement dispatches declined 1.4 per cent YoY to 311,328t in September 2019 when compared with a volume of 307,015t delivered in September 2018, according to the Chilean Construction Chamber (CChC). When compared with August 2019, dispatches were down 15.7 per cent. In the first nine months of 2019, total dispatches increased 5.1 per cent from 3.948Mt in the 9M18 to 4.15Mt in the 9M19.

Cement sales in Brazil totalled 5.2Mt in October 2019, representing a 9.2 per cent increase when compared with October 2018, according to the country’s cement association, SNIC. Total Vietnamese cement sales reached 8.196Mt in September 2019, up two per cent YoY and one per cent MoM, according to the latest data by the Vietnam Cement Association (VNCA).
