Cement sales in Indonesia increased 9.5 per cent in November to 7.088Mt in November 2019 when compared with November 2018, according to data supplied by Semen Indonesia. Sales in Java advanced 6.6 per cent to 3.873Mt from 3.633Mt in the previous year, buoyed by improved deliveries in West Java, which rose to 1.152Mt (+17.9 per cent). Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the USA and Puerto Rico advanced 13 per cent in September 2019 to 9.4Mt, when compared with September 2018, according to the latest data from the US Geological Survey (USGS). Cement sales in Puerto Rico slipped 2.9 per cent to 46,236.3t (1.084m bags of 42.6kg) in November 2019 when compared with November 2018, when 47,630.6t (1.117m bags) were sold, according to data released by the Economic Development Bank of Puerto Rico. Cement sales in Brazil increased 3.9 per cent YoY in November to 4.7Mt, according to SNIC, the country’s cement association. Peru’s cement market expanded by 6.7 per cent YoY in October 2019 as demand reached 1.089Mt when compared with 1.021Mt reported in October 2018, according to the latest data published by the country’s cement association, Asocem.
