Work on Dangote’s Côte d’Ivoire plant advances10 April 2019, Published under Cement NewsDangote Cement has announced the construction of its 3Mta cement works just outside Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire is now at an advanced stage. The project has been implemented for around 70 per cent with more than 80 per cent of equipment supplied and 80 per cent in terms of construction and civil engineering, according to Camara Guy Adama, project leader. Cartes EIS draws calls for cave protection08 April 2019, Published under Cement NewsParaguay’s cave research association, Fepae, has called on the country’s Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development to protect the Risso cave in San Lazaro, Conception, in response to proposals from Grupo Cartes to invest US$180m in a cement plant nearby. The request comes following the publication of an environmental impact study (EIS) by Sociedad Calera Risso that includes the construction of an electrical substation and 66kV transmission line relating to the plant. |

Bolivia’s Potosí plant construction 2/3 completed28 March 2019, Published under Cement NewsConstruction work on the US$241m state-owned cement plant in Chiutara, Potosí, has been 66 per cent completed, according to Bolivian President, Evo Morales. The cement works is currently being built by a consortium formed by Spain-based Imasa and Valoriza (Sacyr group) and Germany’s Polysius. The consortium was contracted by the Bolivian government in 2017 to build the 1.3Mta plant in 36 months. Cementos Progreso tests new San Gabriel plant15 March 2019, Published under Cement NewsGuatamala-based Cementos Progreso has completed its investment of GTQ3.85bn (US$501m) at its San Gabriel plant in San Juan Sacatepequez. Tests were launched in 2018 and are expected to continue in the next few months before the 4500tpd plant enters commercial operation.
