Xuan Khiem Group seeks approval for new 2.3Mta plant

Vietnam’s Xuan Khiem Group is seeking approval from the prime minister to build a new 2.3Mta facility in Hoa Binh province at an investment of VND4.99trn (US$214.16m), according to Vietnam News. The Xuan Son project is scheduled to complete in 2020, with the plant expected to cover 38ha of land in Yen Thuy district. At the end of last year, the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the People’s Committee of Hoa Binh to build the plant.

CSN Cimentos plans new 3Mta plant in Brazil

Brazil’s CSN Cimentos has announced plans to invest BRL1.5bn (US$387.84m) for a new 3Mta cement facility in Paraná. Chinese investors are behind a greenfield 0.5Mta cement plant to be built in Mozambique by 2021. The US$700m cement plant will be located in Muxúnguè, Chibabava district in the southern province of Sofala. Tajikistan’s Tajik Cement has signed an investment agreement for the construction and commissioning of a new 1.2Mta plant. The state-run producer is reportedly seeking US$100m in foreign direct investments for the project. The country produced 1.2Mt of cement in the Jan-Apr period of this year, rising 75,000t from the year-ago period.

UltraTech Cement receives approval for 6Mta plant project

Calcar Products to begin work on new grinding unit

India's Calcar Products is expecting to begin Phase I of its new cement grinding unit project this month. The facility will be set up in two phases at Bhupdeopur village of Raigarh district, Chhattisgarh, with each phase representing 0.33Mta of cement capacity. Th estimated investment cost for Phase I is INR420m (US$6.06m) and INR330m for Phase II. The project is due for completion in the first half of 2020.
