Shree Cement sees 14% revenue increase and plans new capacity

India’s Shree Cement has announced a 19.6 per cent YoY fall in net profit to INR3.21bn (US$46.18m) for the 4QFY18-19. However, revenue increased 14.2 per cent to INR33.29bn from INR29.15bn. The company’s cement segment recorded a 16.9 per cent increase in revenue to INR32.84bn from INR28.11bn. Qarshi Conch Cement expected to begin plant operations in 2020

Qarshi Conch Cement’s (Anhui Conch Cement Co Ltd) new 1.2Mta cement plant in Karshi, Uzbekistan, is expected to become operational in December 2020, according to the country’s Cabinet of Ministers. The parent company attracted US$150.5m to finance the project, including the supply of materials, equipment and external infrastructure. Ebonyi plant receives government approval

The establishment of Ebonyi Cement factory (EBOCEM) at Okpoto, Ishielu, Nigeria, has been approved by Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi. Meanwhile, a committee that will be led by the Commissioner for Solid Materials, Eng Francis Orji, has been set up to implement the plan. The government will hold a 10 per cent stake in the venture.

MI Cement to raise debt for Bangladeshi grinding unit

MI Cement Factory Ltd is expected to raise foreign currency loans from HSBC and Standard Chartered Bank to finance its sixth line at its West Mukterpur, Munshiganj district of Bangladesh, according to the company’s Senior General Manager, Mozharul Islam. The US$70m project will add 8400tpd of grinding capacity to the site’s current capacity of 19,400tpd. Commercial production at the new unit is scheduled to start in January 2021.

Ecebol's Oruro cement plant produces first cement

On 15 April 2019, Empresa Publica Productiva Cementos de Bolivia's ( Ecebol) Oruro cement plant produced its first cement, according to schedule. Power Cement of Pakistan has released a progress report on the implementation of the Nooriabad expansion project  for the quarter ended 31 March 2019. Ghana expects job boost from new factory

Ghana is expecting a jobs boost from the construction of the Tanoso clinker plant later this year. Approximately1800 direct jobs will be created when the factory is completed. President Akufo-Addoo visited the project site on 15 April 2019 in a tour of the region. The Tanoso unit expects to save the country US$700m by significantly reducing the need for clinker imports.

After receiving approval to acquire Cemtech Ltd , Tanzania’s Simba Cement has announced plans to construct the Ortum Cement project that Cemtech had struggled to get off the ground.
