Cemex invests US$320m in solar energy

Cemex will invest US$320m in a solar farm in Zacatecas, Mexico. The solar power plant will have a capacity of 378MW. “At cement we bring different projects and we do not rule out starting other solar farms,” said Beatriz Padilla García, business development consultant of Cemex’s energy arm.  The facility is expected to start operations next year. Electricity generated by the plant will be sold to the private sector.

ACC adopts solar power for Kudithini and Thondebhavi grinding mills

ACC Ltd (LafargeHolcim group) has adopted the use of solar power in the cement manufacturing process at its grinding units in Kudithini and Thondebhavi in Karnataka. Fauji Cement to set up solar power plant

Fauji Cement Company Ltd (FCCL) has informed Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on 3 August 2018 that its Board of Directors in a special meeting discussed and approved setting up of 12.5MW captive solar power plant at Site in Jhang Bahtar, Attock, Punjab.   According to Brig (Rtd) Riaz Ahmed Gondal, company secretary, the project would be competed in 6-7 months and will help to overcome energy cost.   Earlier, FCCL had commissioned a 12MW waste heat recovery (WHR) plant in 2015.

Cemex Colombia to study solar farm construction

Cemex Colombia, the mayor of Ibague and LG announced they will initiate the technical, economic and legal studies required to build a solar farm that will supply sustainable power Tolima’s public lighting system. The farm would be located on a 56ha site, owned by the Mayor’s Office on the Doima-Buenos Aires highway. Around 16ha of solar panels would be installed. The electricity generated could also be used at Cemex’s Tolima cement plant to reduce greenhouse gases.

Taiwan Cement Corp plans to spend TWD980m (US$32.45) on a green energy project at the Changhua Coastal Industrial Park.
