Moroccan deliveries up 69% in May

Cement deliveries by members of Morocco’s cement association, APC, were up 68.5 per cent to 882,785t in May 2021 from 523,848t in May 2020, according to data published by the Ministry for Housing and Urbanisation. In the first five months of 2021 total deliveries reached 4,446,117t, representing a 25.4 per cent increase from 4,342,862t in the January-May 2020 period.

Moroccan cement sales in April saw a 111.6 per cent YoY rise to 1.169Mt when compared with a low base of 0.552Mt in April 2020, according to the country’s cement producers’ association, APC. In the first four months of the year, sales advanced 19.5 per cent to 4.563Mt from 3.819Mt in the 4M20.

Moroccan cement demand expands 33% in June

Cement consumption in Morocco increased 33 per cent YoY to 1,129,708t in June 2020 when compared with June 2019, when demand stood at 849,524t, according to data by the country's cement association, APC. However, in the first half year of 2020 domestic sales fell 18.5 per cent YoY to 5.473Mt, down from 6.718Mt reported in the 1H19.

Moroccan cement dispatches contract 56% in April

Morocco’s cement deliveries saw 55.5 per cent drop to 552,472t in April 2020 from 1,241,463t in April 2019, according to the members of the country’s cement association, APC. In the first four months of 2020, dispatches declined by 20.6 per cent to 3.919Mt from 4.808Mt in the 4M2019. APC members are Votorantim-owned Asment Temara, Ciments de l’Atlas, Ciments du Maroc (HeidelbergCement) and LafargeHolcim Maroc with a combined cement capacity of approximately 24Mta.

Cement demand in Morocco increased 12.1 per cent YoY to 1.355Mt in October 2019 when compared with 1.208Mt supplied in October 2018, according to data published by the country’s Ministry of Housing and Urbanisation. The largest share, 888,724t, was delivered to the wholesale segment, followed by ready-mix concrete companies (240,608t) and the prefabricated segment (108,116t). Cement dispatches in Morocco increased by 9.4 per cent YoY to 1.14Mt in September, up from 1.04Mt in September 2018, according to the country’s cement association, APC. Cement sales in Morocco up 4% in June

Cement sales in Morocco increased 4.1 per cent to 815,842t in June 2019 YoY, according to the Association professionelle des cimentiers (APC). In the first half of the year, domestic cement demand has advanced 2.1 per cent to 6.57Mt when compared with the 1H18. Deliveries for the building sector expanded most rapidly by 37.4 per cent in the first six months.

Cement sales in Morocco edged up to 1.17Mt in January 2019 from 1.11Mt in January 2017, according to the country’s cement association, APC. The rise in demand, which follows a market contraction of 3.7 per cent in 2018, has been welcomed with one operator commenting: “The recovery of the cement market is comforting. We hope that this upward trend will continue in the coming months.”
