Tajikistan to see exports rise to 1.9Mt by 2023

Tajikistan is expected to see cement exports increase by 200,000tpa and reach 1.9Mt by 2023. Overall cement production in the country is also projected to rise to 5.3Mt by the same time. More than 4.2Mt of cement was produced in 2020 and over 1.3Mt was exported to neighbouring countries, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies. Uzbekistan (764,000t) and Afghanistan (505,000t) were the main importers, while 42,000 were sent to Kyrgyzstan.

Engineers rebuild Ghori cement plant

With government support, local engineers and staff are rebuilding Ghori cement plant in northern Afghanistan. The factory had been badly damaged during the protracted war in the country. Iran continues cement exports to Afghanistan

A total of 54,000t of cement have been exported to Afghanistan from Sistan and Baluchestan province, southeastern Iran, since the start of the Iranian year on 20 March. The cement was transported by 2,056 trucks through the Milak border crossing, said Ayoub Kord, head of the Roads and Urban Development Organisation of Sistan and Baluchestan province.

Turkmenistan exports 0.256Mt in 2019

Turkmenistan’s Lebap cement plant in Koytendag district exported 256,000t, or nearly 30 per cent of its production, in 2019. The majority of exports were M400 and M500 cement shipments, which were delivered to Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. The plant is one of the largest in central Asia and its production capacity of 1Mta could be extended to 1.5Mta. Pakistan's exports increased in volume terms over the first seven months of FY19-20, but declined in value terms. Pakistan's cement industry earned foreign exchange revenue of US$94.41m by exporting 2.368Mt of cement and clinker between July and October 2019, compared to US$104.34m from exporting 2.411Mt of cement/clinker in same months last year, says the country's Federal Bureau of Statistics.
