Vietnam's export volumes fall 5% in October

Vietnam is estimated to have exported 3.2Mt of cement and clinker worth US$126m in October, down 4.8 per cent in volume and five per cent in value YoY, according to the General Statistics Office data released on 29 October. In the first 10 months of 2020, the country is estimated to have exported 31.45Mt of cement and clinker at a value of US$1.17bn, up 18.2 per in volume and 5.6 per cent in value.

Tajikistan exports 31% of production in 9M20

Tajikistan exported 990,000t of cement in the January-September period of 2020, according to the country’s Ministry of Industry and New Technologies. New US$435m project set for Oman

Oman’s Duqm International Cement Projects Co is preparing to launch the country’s biggest integrated cement plant project with an investment of US$435m, according to the Oman News Agency. The new factory, to be located in the Special Economic Zone in Duqm (SEZAD), is expected to have a capacity of 3.5Mta (10,000tpd). It is due to start operations in 2023. Ciments de Bizerte resumes bulk exports by sea

Tunisia-based Ciments de Bizerte announced it is resuming bulk cement exports by sea from the Port of Bizerte. The first ship was loaded with bulk cement destined for the Libyan market. The company has invested in new loading and unloading facilities.

Vietnamese cement market contracts 12% in September

Total cement sales in Vietnam fell by 12 per cent YoY and by seven per cent MoM to 4,826,791t, according to the Vietnamese National Cement Association (VNCA). Cement demand in Spain has declined by 11.6 per cent YoY to 9.858Mt at the end of the 3Q20, according to Oficemen, the country’s cement association. Pakistan's Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) released cement export data for July-September 2020 and September alone, which showed a positive trend on a cumulative YoY and MoM basis. Cement consumption in Peru remained largely stable at 1.018Mt in September 2020 when compared with August 2020 and increased 10 per cent YoY. Algeria-based cement producer Cilas de Biskra has exported a shipment of 50,000t of clinker from Annaba to Gabon, according to Hafid Ouchiche, export director of LafargeHolcim Algérie. In the first eight months of 2020, Vietnam exported more than 23.5Mt of cement and clinker, an increase of 13.7 per cent YoY.
