New inland waterway receives first cement consignment

The first export consignment of cement from Bangladesh to Tripura, in India, through the inland waterways has been completed. A Bangladeshi barge carrying 50t of cement reached Sonamura in the northeastern Indian state of Tripura two days after setting sail from Daudkandi. Czech cement production reaches 4.57Mt in 2019

Cement output in the Czech cement industry increased 3.2 per cent YoY to 4.57Mt, a level not seen since 2008, reports the Czech news agency, CTK. Cement sales in Vietnam fell eight per cent YoY but edged up by two per cent to 5.335Mt in July 2020, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Turkey’s cement exports to the US declined by 5.7 per cent YoY in the first half of 2020, amounting to US$197.7m, according to the Turkish Ministry of Trade. In June 2020 the country’s cement exports to the US increased 24.4 per cent compared to June 2019 and exceeded US$37.1m.

Vietnam exported 19.5Mt of cement and clinker worth US$732m in the first seven months of 2020, up 11.4 per cent YoY in volume but down 5.4 per cent in value, according to Dau Tu (Investment). The export of cement from Turkey to Germany increased 4.2 per cent from January-July 2020 compared to the same period of 2019, exceeding US$140.4m, reported the Turkish Ministry of Trade. Cement dispatches in Peru are recovering from COVID-19 disruption. In July 2020, 0.826Mt of cement was delivered to the domestic market, according to Asocem.
