Nigeria’s Dangote Cement exported its first shipment of clinker to Senegal during the weekend. The 27,800t shipment set off from the company’s terminal in Apapa Port, Lagos. "This vessel, being the maiden ship is exporting 27,800t to Senegal and this is just a tip of the iceberg as to what we have in plan. Indonesian export shipments surge 41% in May

Cement and clinker exports from Indonesia advanced 41 per cent YoY in May to reach 625,650t, according to the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI). In May 2019 cement and clinker exports stood at 443,773t. Clinker exports were up 43.1 per cent YoY to 565,542t while cement exports increased 23.5 per cent YoY to 60,109t. Cement exports from Turkey to Georgia fell by 8.2 per cent between January-April 2020, compared to the same period of 2019, amounting to US$12.8m. Cement consumption in Argentina decreased by 32.8 per cent in May 2020 to reach 648,562t, according to new data published by AFCP, the country’s cement association. In May 2019 domestic dispatches were 964,733t. All volumes were supplied by Argentine cement producers with no imports entering the country. All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) released local/overseas dispatches data for May and the 11MFY19-20. The Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) of Pakistan has released cement export data for the 10 months of July 2019 to April 2020. Vietnam’s cement market contracted 11 per cent YoY and 13 per cent MoM as domestic cement sales reached 5,664,973t in April 2020, according to the latest data from the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Spain saw cement consumption down 50 per cent YoY in April 2020 to less than 0.6Mt, according to the country’s cement association, Oficemen. The decline in demand has been attributed to the suspension of non-essential works between 30 March and 9 April. Peru’s cement market sharply contracted to 5700t in April 2020, down from 883,000t in April 2019 and from 488,000t in March 2020, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association.
