Saudi Arabia saw cement sales rise 17% in November

Cement sales in Saudi Arabia increased 16.5 per cent YoY to 4.75Mt in November 2020, driven by the Ministry of Housing’s programmes, according to NCB Capital Co. Uzbekistan sees 3% rise in production

Uzbekistan produced 8.8Mt of cement in the first 10 months of the 2020, up 2.6 per cent compared to the year-ago period. The largest volumes of cement were produced in the Tashkent region (46.7 per cent), followed by Navoi region (35.1 per cent) and Fergana region (12.8 per cent). The value of cement exported from Uzbekistan in the January-October period amounted to US$27.6m. Meanwhile, the value of cement imports reached US$105.5m.

Pakistan's cement industry dispatched 4.508Mt domestically and overseas in November 2020, recording a growth of 4.2 per cent on a YoY basis, according to the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA).   Out of the total dispatches, the local share increased by 6.3 per cent to 3.742Mt from 3.521Mt in November 2019, while exports registered a reduction of five per cent to 766,273t from 806,521t. Bangladesh's cement industry has earned export revenue of US$2.82m in the five-month period of July-November 2020 (5MFY20-21), compared to US$4.08m in the year-ago period, a fall of 30.9 per cent YoY. Cement demand in Argentina surged 25.1 per cent YoY and edged up two per cent MoM to 1,091,549t in November 2020, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP.  The market was entirely supplied by domestic output. The value of Iran’s cement exports in the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (20 March-21 October) reached more than US$163.4m, down 11 per cent compared to the same period last year. The quantity of cement exports also fell 24 per cent YoY to 7,630,428t.

Cement exports from Turkey to Turkmenistan increased by 79.1 per cent from January through September 2020, compared to the same period in 2019, amounting to US$14.8m, the Turkish Trade Ministry reported. Vietnam is estimated to have produced 90.3Mt of cement in the first 11 months of 2020, up 3.4 per cent YoY, according to data from the country’s General Statistics Office. GICA will export 41,000t of clinker to the Dominican Republic and Haiti as it seeks new markets in Latin America, the company announced in a statement sent to EFE.
