Tajik Cement plans new 1.2Mta plant

Tajikistan’s Tajik Cement has signed an investment agreement for the construction and commissioning of a new 1.2Mta plant. The state-run producer is reportedly seeking US$100m in foreign direct investments for the project. The country produced 1.2Mt of cement in the Jan-Apr period of this year, rising 75,000t from the year-ago period.

Tajikistan’s Mohir Cement Co has announced plans to construct a new 0.6Mta cement plant in Jaloliddin Balkhi district, Khatlon. An estimated US$30m is expected to be spent on construction, according to the company’s draft investment agreement with the government of Tajikistan. Tajikistan increases output by 9% in 1Q19

Tajikistan has produced around 843,000t of cement in the first three months of 2019, an increase of nine per cent from 747,000t last year, according to Asia-Plus. Tajikistan boosts output in Jan-Feb 2019

Tajikistan recorded a nine per cent increase in cement production to 482,000t in the first two months of 2019. Exports from the country reached 182,000t in the same period, according to a report by Asia-Plus, however, an annual comparison was not stated. An estimated 5Mta of cement capacity is now operational in the country, with Huaxin Gayur Cement, Chzhungtsai Mohir Cement and Huaxin Gayur Sughd Cement accounting for approximately 80 per cent of the overall volume of cement output.

Tajikistan exports US$65.4m of cement in 2018

Tajikistan exported 1.14Mt of cement in 2018, representing a value of US$65.4m. In 2017 exports stood at 970,100t and had a value of US$49.5m.The country exports cement to Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan. Meanwhile, preliminary work began on the construction of a cement plant in Kubodiyon district, Khatlon – set to become the largest in the country, according to Azer News.

Tajikistan exported 1.1Mt of cement to neighbouring countries in the first 10 months of 2018, an increase of 30 per cent compared to the year-ago period, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (MoINT). A Tajikistan-based cement producer has announced plans to construct a facility in Surxondaryo, Uzbekistan, in the near future, according to Kazakhstan Newsline. Tajikistan has recorded an 83.5 per cent YoY increase in cement production in the first quarter of this year, rising to 782,400t from 426,400t.
