Uzbekistan cement imports surge in 4M21

Uzbekistan imported 1Mt of cement worth US$50.5m in the January-April 2021 period, more than doubling the year-ago volume of 515,100t, according to Trend reporting the latest data from the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan. Mohir Cement launches new plant

Tajikistan’s Mohir Cement LLC held the official opening ceremony of its new plant in Jaloliddin Balkhi, Khatlon, yesterday, with the ceremony attended by the country's President, Emomali Rahmon. The facility has a capacity of 600,000tpa and will produce M400 and M500 cements. Cement from the unit is expected to be exported to Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.

Tajikistan to see exports rise to 1.9Mt by 2023

Tajikistan is expected to see cement exports increase by 200,000tpa and reach 1.9Mt by 2023. Overall cement production in the country is also projected to rise to 5.3Mt by the same time. More than 4.2Mt of cement was produced in 2020 and over 1.3Mt was exported to neighbouring countries, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies. Uzbekistan (764,000t) and Afghanistan (505,000t) were the main importers, while 42,000 were sent to Kyrgyzstan.

Cement plants in Tajikistan have produced 3.951Mt of cement in the January-November 2020 period. This represents an increase of 0.9 per cent YoY, according to Tajikistan Newsline. The Tajik cement production base currently has a cement production capacity of approximately 4.7Mta.

Tajikistan exported 990,000t of cement in the January-September period of 2020, according to the country’s Ministry of Industry and New Technologies. Around 31 per cent of the cement produced in the country was exported in the 9M20, mainly to Uzbekistan (562,000t), Afghanistan (391,000t) and Kyrgyzstan (43,000t). Tajikistan has produced more than 2.8Mt in the first eight months of 2020, representing a rise of 3.5 per cent YoY over the 8M19. There are 13 companies currently producing cement in the country, with an estimated annual capacity of 4.7Mta.

Tajikistan exports 0.5Mt of cement in Jan-May

In the 5M20 Tajikistan produced over 1.5Mt of cement and exported 0.5Mt of this output, according to Avesta. The largest share of exports, 238,300t, was supplied to Uzbekistan, with an additional 227,200t to Afghanistan and 34,100t to Kyrgyzstan. Total cement exports were valued at US$20.5m.

Tajikistan increases output in 2019 by 400,000t

Tajikistan produced 4.2Mt of cement in 2019, an increase of 400,000t compared to the previous year, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (MoINT). The country’s cement exports also rose by around 150,000t to 1.546Mt. Tajikistan reportedly earned US$68.1m from its cement export activities in 2019.
