Cement deliveries in Morocco dropped 14 per cent YoY to 1,028,481t in March 2024, according to the country's cement association, APC. Sales by its members – Asment Témara , Ciments de l’Atlas , Ciments du Maroc , LafargeHolcim Maroc and Novacim – were down from 1,195,305t in March 2023. Cement consumption in Ukraine rose by 17 per cent last year, up 5.4Mt compared to 2022, says Pablo Kachur, head of the country's cement association, Ukrcement Association. “A similar jump is not predicted this year, but we will probably get 6Mt of domestic cement consumption,” said the representative. Iranian cement consumption rose 15.2 per cent YoY in February 2024 to 4.93Mt, up from 4.28Mt, according to the Iranian cement association. Producers manufactured 5.13Mt of cement and 5.04Mt of clinker in February, an increase of 11.8 and 18.9 per cent, respectively, when compared with February 2023. Kazakhstan-based Steppe Cement reported revenue of KZT3.779bn (US$8.4m) in the first quarter of 2024, down 23.5 per cent from KZT4.938bn in the year-ago period. The company's market share in Kazakhstan contracted to 11.5 per cent in the 1Q24 from 12.7 per cent in the 1Q23. Total cement dispatches in Pakistan rose 3.9 per cent YoY to 3.941Mt in March 2024 from 3.795Mt a year earlier, according to the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association. Thai domestic cement sales, excluding clinker, came in at 3.74Mt in December 2023, up 28.1 per cent MoM and 25.5 per cent YoY, according to Thailand’s Office of Industrial Economics (OIE). Cement sales in Vietnam dropped sharply in February 2024, contracting 46 per cent MoM to 2,221,315t, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA).
