Cement dispatches in Peru increased nine per cent to 1.016Mt in January 2024 when compared with 0.928Mt in January 2023, according to the Peruvian cement association, ASOCEM. Total cement dispatches of Portland and blended cement in the USA and Puerto Rico, including imports, picked up by 2.6 per cent YoY to 8.7Mt in November 2023, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Cement deliveries by members of Morocco’s cement association, APC ( Asment Temara , Ciments de l’Atlas , Ciments du Maroc, LafargeHolcim Maroc and Novacim ) increased by 6.6 per cent YoY to 1,130,187t, according to he Ministry of National Territory Planning, Land Planning, Housing and Urban Policy. Argentina's cement consumption declines 20% in January

Cement demand in Argentina saw a 19.9 per cent drop to 767,297t in January 2024 when compared with 958,230t in January 2023, according to the country's cement association, AFCP. Argentinian demand was entirely met by domestic production, which saw a 20 per cent decline to 772,874t in January 2024 from 965,633t in January 2023. Local producers also exported 6036t of cement, an 18.5 per cent decrease from 7404t in January 2023.

Chile's cement market closes 2023 with 11% drop

Chilean cement dispatches fell by 10.1 per cent YoY to 443,170t in December 2023 from 492,963t in December 2023, according to the Chilean construction chamber, CChC. In the full-year 2023 cement dispatches were down 11 per cent YoY to 5,208,803t from 5,854,997t in 2022.

Brazilian cement sales start 2024 with a 2% drop

Cement sales in the Brazilian market saw 2.1 per cent YoY drop to 4.766Mt in January 2024 when compared with 4.868Mt in January 2023, according to SNIC, the country's cement association. Puerto Rican cement sales increased 7.7 per cent to 539,034t (1.189m bags of 42.5kg) in January 2024 from 500,286t (1.103m bags) in January 2023, according to the Puerto Rican statistics agency. Cement dispatches in Colombia slipped by 2.6 per cent to 1.093Mt in December 2023 from 1.122Mt in December 2022, according to the country’s statistics agency, DANE.
