Shree Cement records 21% revenue increase

India's Shree Cement has announced that its net profit fell 10 per cent YoY in the third quarter of FY18-19 ended 31 December, declining to INR3.01bn (US$42.28m) from INR3.33bn of the year-ago period. Pakistan cement exported 0.625Mt of cement in December 2018

Pakistan's cement industry received foreign exchange revenue of US$25.89m by exporting 624,714t of cement during the month of December 2018, compared to US$26.77m at 635,192t in the previous month. This shows a fall of 3.3 per cent and 1.7 per cent in terms of value and quantity, respectively, according to the Federal Bureau of Statistics. Work on West Pokot facility set to begin

Cemtech Ltd, a subsidiary of India’s Sanghi Group, has moved construction machinery to begin work on its proposed facility in West Pokot, Kenya, by the end of this month. India’s Burnpur Cement has reported a standalone net loss of INR38.6m (US$542,446) during the third quarter of FY18-19 ended 31 December, widening from INR33.4m a year earlier. Indian cement consumption to rise by 7-8 per cent in FY19-20

Rating agency ICRA forecasts that domestic cement demand in India will grow seven per cent YoY in FY19 and by around eight per cent in FY20, driven mainly by rural and affordable housing projects as well as larger infrastructure projects for roads, irrigation and metro development. JSW Cement turns water provider

JSW Cement will provide piped and solar-powered water to 11 villages near to its planned grinding plant in Jajpur district, India. As part of  the company's US$13bn 'Enterprise and Social Commitment' programme the villages will be provided with water through a 7500m pipeline later this year. JSW Cement is currently building a 1.2Mta grinding plant in Jajpur district and plans to raise it to 2.4Mta in the future.

Star Cement announces plant expansion

India’s Star Cement has announced a brownfield expansion at its grinding unit in Jalpaiguri district, West Bengal. Already the largest manufacturer in the northeast of the country, this project will expand the plant’s capacity from 1.6Mta to 2Mta. Once the company receives environmental clearance, work on the INR4.43bn (US$63.26m) plans is expected to begin by June 2019.

NCL Industries reports 13% growth in output in 3QFY18-19

India-based NCL Industries has reported a 13 per cent YoY increase in cement production to 552,000t in the third quarter of FY18-19, up from 490,000t in the year-ago period. Cement deliveries advanced by 18 per cent to 555,000t in the 3QFY18-19 from 471,000t in the 3QFY17-18, according to Accord Fintech. In addition, the company’s cement boards production and dispatches increased by three and four per cent, respectively to 17,631t and 16,713t, respectively during the 3QFY18-19.
