Calcar Products to begin work on new grinding unit

India's Calcar Products is expecting to begin Phase I of its new cement grinding unit project this month. The facility will be set up in two phases at Bhupdeopur village of Raigarh district, Chhattisgarh, with each phase representing 0.33Mta of cement capacity. Th estimated investment cost for Phase I is INR420m (US$6.06m) and INR330m for Phase II. The project is due for completion in the first half of 2020.

Mohir Cement plans new 0.6Mta plant in Tajikistan

Tajikistan’s Mohir Cement Co has announced plans to construct a new 0.6Mta cement plant in Jaloliddin Balkhi district, Khatlon. An estimated US$30m is expected to be spent on construction, according to the company’s draft investment agreement with the government of Tajikistan. Ecocem of Ireland has dropped plans for a grinding mill Vallejo, San Francisco Bay, California, USA, after project partner Vallejo Marine Terminal (VMT) withdrew from the proposed plant. Shree Cement sees 14% revenue increase and plans new capacity

India’s Shree Cement has announced a 19.6 per cent YoY fall in net profit to INR3.21bn (US$46.18m) for the 4QFY18-19. However, revenue increased 14.2 per cent to INR33.29bn from INR29.15bn. The company’s cement segment recorded a 16.9 per cent increase in revenue to INR32.84bn from INR28.11bn. Qarshi Conch Cement expected to begin plant operations in 2020

Qarshi Conch Cement’s (Anhui Conch Cement Co Ltd) new 1.2Mta cement plant in Karshi, Uzbekistan, is expected to become operational in December 2020, according to the country’s Cabinet of Ministers. Ebonyi plant receives government approval

The establishment of Ebonyi Cement factory (EBOCEM) at Okpoto, Ishielu, Nigeria, has been approved by Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi. Meanwhile, a committee that will be led by the Commissioner for Solid Materials, Eng Francis Orji, has been set up to implement the plan. The government will hold a 10 per cent stake in the venture.

MI Cement to raise debt for Bangladeshi grinding unit

MI Cement Factory Ltd is expected to raise foreign currency loans from HSBC and Standard Chartered Bank to finance its sixth line at its West Mukterpur, Munshiganj district of Bangladesh, according to the company’s Senior General Manager, Mozharul Islam. The US$70m project will add 8400tpd of grinding capacity to the site’s current capacity of 19,400tpd. Commercial production at the new unit is scheduled to start in January 2021.

On 15 April 2019, Empresa Publica Productiva Cementos de Bolivia's ( Ecebol) Oruro cement plant produced its first cement, according to schedule.
