Cement dispatches in Peru declined by 10 per cent YoY to 1.089Mt in August 2023 from1.211Mt in August 2022, according to the country’s cement association, ASOCEM. Of this total, ASOCEM members supplied 1.015Mt, down from 1.167Mt in August 2022. Non-members dispatched 74,000t, up from 44,000t in August 2022. Chile’s dispatches increase 1% in July

Cement dispatches in Chile were up by 1.4 per cent YoY to 280,545t in July 2023 from 276,554t in July 2022, says the Chilean construction chamber, CChC. However, in the January-July 2023 period, the country’s cement market contracted by 7.6 per cent YoY to 2.079Mt from 2.249Mt in the first seven months of 2022.

Cement dispatches in Argentina declined by 1.4. per cent YoY to 1,209,746t in August 2023 from 1,226,632t in August 2022, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. Cement sales in Brazil increased by 1.8 per cent YoY to 5.973Mt in August 2023 from 5.867Mt in August 2022, according to the national cement association, SNIC. Diego Lugano, a former footballer for Uruguay’s national team, is entering the cement business in Brazil in a joint venture (JV) with local company Hipermix.
