China's cement exports declined by 9.4 per cent YoY to 2.96Mt in the first four months of 2014, according to data released by the General Administration of Customs. Peru’s domestic cement dispatches reached 3,279,640t between January and April 2014, edging up 0.1 per cent YoY, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Iran produced 4.501Mt of cement in the first calendar month of the current Iranian calendar year (21 March 2014 - 20 April 2015), according to its Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade reported that the country. Over 70 per cent of the total (some 3.234Mt) was supplied to the domestic market during the month, Iran's IRNA News Agency reported. Argentina: cement demand falls 5% YoY

Argentina’s cement industry shipped 905,584t, including exports, in April 2014, reflecting a 0.6 per cent decrease from March and a 7.1 per cent fall YoY. Domestic demand, including imports, reached 895,697t, slipping 0.3 per cent MoM while compared to April 2013, the figure was 5.4 per cent lower. In the first four months of 2014, Argentina’s cement demand reached 3,557,983t, a two per cent decrease YoY. Exports fell by 42.4 per cent to 108,517t when compared to the previous year.

Polish cement production grows 40.3% YoY in April

Polish cement production jumped by 40.3 per cent YoY to 1.45Mt in April, while sales increased 23.5 per cent YoY for the month of April to 1.46Mt, said Poland's Cement Producer Association in a statement. Year-to-date production increased 48.4 per cent YoY to 3.98Mta, while sales from January to April rose by 46.9 per cent YoY to 4.14Mta.

Pakistan cement industry trebles FDI

The Pakistan cement sector has received foreign direct investment (FDI) to the tune of US$21.5m from July 2013-March 2014, more than trebling the US$6.3m received during the comparative period the previous year, according to the State Bank of Pakistan. Colombia’s cement production rose in March 2014 by 16 per cent, particularly in Cundinamarca (+35 per cent), Antioquia (+33.3 per cent), Bogotá (+22 per cent) and Valle del Cauca (+26 per cent). These latest advances in output see first-quarter 2014 cement production increase by 9.8 per cent, underlining previous expectations that the construction sector is contributing significantly to the country’s economic growth.
