Iran increases cement output

Iran's cement output is projected to reach 80Mt by the end of the year, the secretary of Iranian cement industry employers, Abdolreza Sheikhan, has said. In the first 10 months, Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) sales rose by 9.2 per cent YoY to 17.65Mt, including a significant rise in exports. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the US and Puerto Rico in July 2013 reached about 8.1Mt, US Geological Survey statistics show, which translates to an 11 per cent increase in the same period of the year before. Russia-based Lipetskcement, part of the Eurocement Group Holding, produced a total of 1.33Mt of cement, an increase of 27.9 per cent (247,350t) compared to the the first three quarters of 2012. Colombian cement producers increased their output in September by 12.1 per cent to 1.003Mt when compared with September 2013. During the month they also dispatched 0.981Mt, an advance of 13.7 per cent, according to the country’s statistics office DANE. Akhangaracement JSC, part of the Eurocement Group, produced 1.176Mt of cement and 853,503t of clinker in the first nine months of the year, up 1.61 per cent and 7.66 per cent YoY respectively. Vietnam produced 5.2Mt of cement in October, up 11 per cent from the month before and 13 per cent YoY, the General Statistics Office (GSO) said. The GSO also revised down the cement output in September to 4.7Mt from an earlier estimate of 5.2Mt.
