Vietnam sees 9% cement production rise in 2018

Vietnam is estimated to have produced 90.2Mt of cement in 2018, up 9.1  per  cent YoY, according to the latest data from the country’s government-run General Statistics Office (GSO).   The sum included 8.6Mt in December, an increase of 9.8 per  cent compared to the year-ago period.   In 2017, the country produced 85.4Mt of cement, including 7.6Mt in December, according to revised figures.

Tajikistan records 24% production rise

Cement consumption in Peru rose by 4.8 per cent YoY in November to 1.017Mt, up from 0.971Mt in November 0217, according to the latest data from the country’s cement association, Asocem. Cement production in November remained largely stable in November at 0.901Mt when compared with the previous month and increased by one per cent YoY. Azerbaijan hits record high in cement production

Azerbaijan has produced over 3.2Mta of cement in the first 11 months of the year, a record amount in the entire history of building materials in the country, according to Turan Information Agency. Representing a 21.1 per cent YoY increase, it has been attributed to government policies which stimulate local production and see high import duties on cement. In 2017 the country produced 2.954Mta of cement at a value of AZN265.5m (US$156.49m).

Production rises in Iran's South Khorasan province

Two plants in Iran's South Khorasan province have produced around 765,000t of cement since the start of the current Iranian year (21 March-22 Oct), a 22 per cent YoY increase, according to Davud Shahraki, chairman of the province's Industry, Mining and Trade Organisation. Overall cement sales in Puerto Rico advanced 41.3 per cent in January-November 2018. Cement sales amounted to 1.1m bags of 94lb in November alone, according to Esmerk Latin American News. Production during the mont reached 864,000 bags, the lowest figure in reported in the previous 11 months.

DR Congo cement demand up 2% at end June 2018

Cement production in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at the end of June reached 377,980t, according to the country’s statistics office. This compares with an output of 376,342t in the same period of 2017. Demand for cement in the DRC at the end of June rose 1.6 per cent YoY to 539,474t from 530,820t in 2017. Cement deliveries in Chile fell 7.5 per cent YoY and 10.8 per cent MoM to 307,015t in September 2018, according to the Chilean Chamber of Construction (CCHC). In September 2017 dispatches reached 331,753t while in August 2018 around 344,084t were delivered by Chilean cement producers.

Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the USA and Puerto Rico decreased 4.2 per cent YoY to 8.4Mt in September, according to the latest data from the US Geological Survey (USGS).
