Invecem’s San Sebastián de los Reyes cement plant in Aragua, Venezuela, has been out of action for three weeks as workers protested regarding wages and the lack of investment in the plant by the state. Argentina’s cement market contracted by 6.3 per cent in July 2018 when compared with the previous year, according to the country cement association, AFCP. Kazakhstan cement output increases to 4.6Mt in 1H18

Production at Kazakh cement plants rose 11.5 per cent YoY to 4.634Mt of cement in the first half of 2018.  In 2017 domestic output reached 4.156Mt, up 1.5 per cent  from 4.094Mt in 2016. Earlier this week, Vicat reported positive results for its Jambyl Cement subsidiary, where turnover rose by 21.4 per cent and EBITDA by 45.4 per cent on the back of a 28 per cent rise in cement volumes. The company reported good domestic volumes as well as strong export sales.
