April dispatches in Colombia see 14% rise

Deliveries to the Colombian cement market increased 13.9 per cent YoY to 1.025Mt in April 2018, according to the country’s national statistics office, DANE. Raysut Cement suspends production after Cyclone Mekuna damage

Raysut Cement will shut down production in Oman for up to 10 days after the Tropical Cyclone Mekuna hit the company's Salalah factory on 25 May. Heavy rain and strong winds caused "external damage" and waterlogged the company's production facilities and stock yard. Senegal cement production up 6% in 1Q18

Cement production in Senegal increased by 97,500t in the first quarter of 2018. Sococim and Ciments du Sahel produced 1.832Mt of cement, up 5.6 per cent when compared with the 1.734Mt manufactured in 1Q17. The figures do not include output at Dangote Sénégal’s 1.5Mta plant in Pout. Output in 1Q18 was driven by higher domestic sales, which advanced by 50.6 per cent to 1.279Mt from 0.848Mt in 1Q17. Exports fell 37.1 per cent to 564,900t from 898,200t in the year-ago period.

Argentina’s cement market expanded by 13.5 per cent in April to 958,241t  when compared with April 2017, but fell 12.2 per cent MoM, according to the country’s cement producers’ association, AFCP.This demand was met by 953,081t of domestic output and 5160t of imports.
