Puerto Rican cement demand rose 14% in December 2018

Cement sales in Puerto Rico advanced 13.5 per cent to just over 1m bags of 42.5kg (42,500t) in December 2018 when compared with December 2017, according to the country’s Planning Board. Cement production increased 96 per cent YoY to 964,000 bags, or 40,970t in December 2018. Between July and December 2018, sales totalled 6.9m bags (293,250t), up 60 per cent from the year-ago period. Eurocement’s Voronezh plant sees 5% rise in deliveries

Eurocement’s 3.075Mta cement works in Voronezh has increased its cement production by three per cent YoY to 1.87Mt in 2018, according to a company press release. Deliveries rose by five per cent YoY to 1.881Mt in 2018. The plant broke its monthly shipment record twice in the year: in June it shipped 202,000t of cement, followed by 206,000t of delivered product in August.

US cement market expands 5% in October

Total Portland and blended cement deliveries in the USA and Puerto Rico advanced by 5.2 per cent YoY to 9.9Mt in October 2018, according to data by the US Geological Survey (USGS). Vietnam estimated to produce 7.8Mt in January

Vietnam’s General Statistics Office has estimated that the country produced 7.8Mt of cement in January 2019. This figure represents a 5.9 per cent YoY increase, but is down 1.6 per cent MoM. Revised figures for 2018 show that the country produced 90.2Mt in the full-year period, up 9.7 per cent YoY.

Colombian grey cement market stable in 2018

Dispatches in the Colombian cement market advanced 2.6 per cent to 0.973Mt in December 2018 from 0.949Mt in December 2017, according to the country’s national statistics office, DANE. Ukraine cement output slips 1% in 2018

The production of cement in Ukraine has fallen by one per cent to 8.926Mt in 2018 when compared with the previous year, according to the State Statistics Service. In 2017 Ukrainian cement producers manufactured 9.307Mt of cement, up 2.3 per cent YoY. In December 2018, domestic output decreased by 19.9 per cent YoY to 355,000t while MoM the drop was 50.4 per cent.
