Cement production in Vietnam rises 12% in June

Vietnam reportedly produced 8.3Mt of cement in June, an increase of 12.4 per cent YoY, according to data from the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO). Production for the first half of 2019 rose 7.4 per cent YoY to 47.6Mt.

Egyptian cement sales decline 8% in 1Q19

Total cement sales in Egypt declined 7.7 per cent QoQ to 10.9Mt during the first quarter of 2019, while production decreased 8.1 per cent QoQ to 11.2Mt, according to the Central Bank of Egypt. The average price of cement slipped 0.8 per cent to EGP1190/t (US$71.2/t) in the 1Q19.

Kazakhstan output represents 12 per cent of total Eurasian cement production

Kazakhstan produced 12 per cent of the total volume of cement manufactured in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) during the 1Q19, according to Trend News Agency. The total volume of output in the first quarter reached 12.03Mt, or on average 16-19 per cent of the annual volume due to the seasonal nature of cement production and demand. Portland and blended cement consumption in the USA and Puerto Rico edged down by one per cent to 7.34Mt in March 2019 when compared with March 2018 when the market off-take was 7.417Mt, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Peruvian cement market expands 8% in May

Cement consumption in Peru rose 8.2 per cent YoY in May 2019 to 0.976Mt, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Of this total, 0.97Mt was supplied by domestic producers, including 0.854Mt by Asocem members, who reported a 9.7 per cent YoY and a 8.3 per cent MoM rise in dispatches. Tajik Cement plans new 1.2Mta plant

Tajikistan’s Tajik Cement has signed an investment agreement for the construction and commissioning of a new 1.2Mta plant. The state-run producer is reportedly seeking US$100m in foreign direct investments for the project. The country produced 1.2Mt of cement in the Jan-Apr period of this year, rising 75,000t from the year-ago period.

Vietnam exported 13.82Mt of cement worth US$589.95m in the 5M19, an increase of four per cent YoY in volume and 23.2 per cent in value, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs. Rhiddhisiddhi Cement Industry commences production

Cement production at the plant of Nepal-based Rhiddhisiddhi Cement Industry has started. During the start-up phase, the company willl produce 20,000 bags/day of cement, which will then be ramped up to 60,000t/day. Puerto Rican sales decline 11% in May

Puerto Rican cement sales fell 11.1 per cent YoY to 1.21m bags, or 51,425t, in May, following a 13.9 per cent drop in April. Output from local cement plants was off by one third to 1m bags (42,500t). The May data represent the fourth-consecutive monthly decline since sales started to fall in February, reversing their 13-month climb, according to Sin Comillas. Sagar Cements reports rise in cement production for May

India’s Sagar Cements has reported a 12.9 per cent YoY rise in consolidated cement production in May 2019, increasing to 277,146t from 245,454t in the year-ago period. Standalone production advanced 9.2 per cent to 201,241t, compared with 184,278t in May 2018. Meanwhile, sales climbed 13.3 per cent YoY to 275,330t in May 2019.
