China sees 7% increase in cement output during the 9M19

China's cement output stood at 1.69bnt in the first nine months of 2019, up 6.9 per cent YoY, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). During the period, the sector’s total operating revenue increased 14.3 per cent YoY to CNY719.9bn (US$102.4bn). Combined profits surged 25.3 per cent YoY to reach CNY131.8bn in the 9M19. However, cement prices saw continuous drops during the Jan-Aug period, with the August cement price index falling 6.3 per cent from January.

Venezuelan cement output below 50% of market requirement

The production of cement in Venezuela is less than half of the country’s demand of 18Mt, according to El Impulso. Azerbaijan Gazakh cement plant to raise output

Azerbaijan-based Gazakh cement plant plans to raise its cement output from a current 1Mta to 1.2Mt by the end of the year. A further increase is scheduled for next year, when the facility’s output target is 1.5Mt. Cement production at the works advanced by 25 per cent YoY due to the installation of modern equipment that increased production capacity at the plant to 3300tpd.

Gwana Cement Factory to produce cement in US$864m deal

Nigeria’s Bauchi State Government has signed a US$864m deal with an American investment company to produce cement at the Gwana Cement Factory. Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, made the disclosure at the opening ceremony of a three-day event for the FCT Minister’s Press Corps in Bauchi. In 2018 cement production in Poland broke records to reach 18.94Mt, according to data from the Central Statistical Office (CSO). Cement production in Azerbaijan declined 1.2 per cent YoY in the 9M19 to 2.539Mt, according to the State Statistics Committee. Overall construction materials output rose by 4.2 per cent in terms of value to AZN580.5m (US$342.2m) in the 9M19. Ready-mix concrete volumes were up 22.1 per cent YoY to 1.322Mt, prefabricated concrete structures saw their output drop by 57.4 per cent to 31,800m 3 .

Tajikistan produces 3.1Mt of cement in the 9M19

In January-September 2019, Tajikistan produced construction materials worth TJS2bn (US$207m), an increase of TJS257.5m compared to the 9M18, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan. During the first nine months of the year, the country produced 3.1Mt of cement. Cement exports during the period reached 1.2Mt, representing a value of US$51.4m. This includes 725,600t to Uzbekistan, 427,400t to Afghanistan and 58,500t to Kyrgyzstan.

Peru’s cement consumption increased 6.5 per cent to 1.035Mt in September 2019 when compared with September 2018, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. From 2020 Fábrica de Cimento do Kwanza-Sul (FCKS) plans to increase production at its Sumbe plant in Angola to 70 per cent of its 1.5Mta cement capacity, according to its Director of Human Resources and Administration, Joaquim Manuel.
