Colombia’s cement consumption increased 12.4 per cent YoY in July 2019 to 1.113Mt, reports the country’s statistics office, DANE. Domestic cement production increased 9.5 per cent YoY in July 2019 to 1.118Mt. Building companies and contractors increased their offtake by 15.8 per cent YoY while sales in the retail sector rose by 12.4 per cent. Sagar Cements sees improvement in consolidated production in August

India’s Sagar Cements has reported a 11.7 per cent YoY fall in its standalone production figures for August 2019, which declined to 182,891t from 207,008t. However, consolidated production climbed 2.5 per cent to 250,081t from 243,963t. Standalone cement sales were down 3.8 per cent YoY to 194,819t in the month, compared to 202,429t in August 2018. Meanwhile, consolidated cement sales advanced 8.9 per cent to 268,997t.

Indian cement demand growth forecast to slow in FY20

Growth in Indian cement demand is expected to slow to seven per cent in the FY19-20, against 13 per cent demand growth in the FY18-19, according to ICRA. Akhangarancement records 29% production increase in 7M19

Uzbekistan’s Akhangarancement has recorded a 29 per cent YoY increase in production for the first seven months of 2019, reaching 1.1Mt of cement. The company also shipped 34 per cent more products to customers. In July alone, 190,349t of cement was shipped, the company’s best result since 2013. The growth in production and shipping indicators was also felt in the quarry of the plant, which mined over 1Mt of limestone between January-July 2019.

Uzbekistan's cement imports rise 32% in 7M19

In the first seven months of 2019, Uzbekistan has recorded a 32.3 per cent YoY increase in cement imports at a total value of US$105.6m, according to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan. Vietnam is estimated to have produced 7.9Mt of cement in August, an increase of 8.7 per cent YoY, according to the latest data from the country’s General Statistics Office. Kenya's cement exports decline 65% in 1H19

Kenya’s domestic cement exports have recorded a 65.3 per cent decline in value to KES362.28m (US$3.5m) in the first six months of the year, against KES1.04bn in the 1H18, according to preliminary cement exports statistics from the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK). The production of cement in Senegal remained largely stable YoY at 3,543,100t in the first half of 2019, according to Sahel Intelligence. In the 1H18 output from the country’s cement plants reached 3,546,000t. However, output in June increased by six per cent to 588,100t when compared with 555,000t reported for June 2018.
