The Peruvian cement market expanded 2.1 per cent YoY in November 2019 with total sales of 1.048Mt (November 2019: 1.026Mt), according to Peru’s cement association, Asocem. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the USA and Puerto Rico advanced 13 per cent in September 2019 to 9.4Mt, when compared with September 2018, according to the latest data from the US Geological Survey (USGS). Saudi sales increase 24% YoY in November

The sales of 17 cement companies in Saudi Arabia amounted to 4.27Mt in November 2019, a 23.8 per cent YoY increase compared with 3.45Mt in the year-ago period, according to a report by Yamama Cement. Cement production rose by 22 per cent YoY to 4.3Mt during the period, against 3.54Mt in November 2018. Inventories showed modest growth to 1.22Mt from 1.18Mt.  Southern Province Cement Co reportedly recorded the highest sales volume at 613,000t, followed by Saudi Cement Co and Yanbu Cement.

Cement sales in Puerto Rico slipped 2.9 per cent to 46,236.3t (1.084m bags of 42.6kg) in November 2019 when compared with November 2018, when 47,630.6t (1.117m bags) were sold, according to data released by the Economic Development Bank of Puerto Rico. Domicem, based in the Dominican Republic, has set a new production record. The company surpassed the 1Mt mark for the first time in its history. India’s Sagar Cements has seen the company's standalone cement production/purchase decline 27.4 per cent to 172,160t in November 2019, compared to 236,967t in the year-ago period. The Argentine cement market contracted by 10.1 per cent to 872,177t in November 2019 when compared with November 2018, when demand reached 970,181t, according to its domestic cement association, AFCP. Colombia’s cement market expanded by 2.6 per cent to 1.111Mt in October 2019 when compared with 1.083Mt in October 2018, according to the country’s national statistics office, DANE. Azerbaijan has seen a two per cent YoY decline in cement production to 2.8Mt during the 10M19, according to the State Statistical Committee. Overall construction materials output rose by 3.8 per cent YoY in terms of value to AZN648.7m (US$382.3m). Ready-mix concrete production surged 27.8 per cent to 1.52Mt compared with the 10M18, while the output of prefabricated concrete structures decreased 55.4 per cent to 35,700m 3 .
