Bangladesh reports fall in cement export for 7MFY19

Bangladesh's cement industry recorded a fall of 15.27 per cent in export revenue to US$6.55m during the first seven months of FY18-19 (July-January, 2019) compared to US$7.73m, earned in the same months last year, according to the Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau. Cement demand in Peru increased to 1.022Mt in January 2019, according to the latest figures by the country’s cement association, Asocem. This represents a YoY rise of 9.8 per cent from 0.931Mt reported in January 2018. Clinker exports in Tunisia increased 382 per cent to 1.5Mt in 2018 when compared with 311,000t in 2017, according to data published by the country’s Ministry of Industry and Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises. Cement demand in Argentina fell 16.3 per cent to 873,958t in January 2018, when compared with 1,043,732t in January 2017, according to the latest data from the Argentinian cement association, AFCP. Domestic cement sales in Brazil totalled 4.5Mt in January 2019, according to the National Union of the Cement Industry (SNIC). Indonesia’s cement consumption advanced by 4.8 per cent YoY to 69,565,129t in 2018 from 66,349,944t, according to the preliminary data of the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI). Algeria’s first exports to Niger were carried out on 9 February by El-Hamel Sidi Moussa’s cement plant in Timegtène, 270km east of Adrar. The cement works shipped 2000t. The Pakistan cement industry recorded a negative growth on domestic dispatches during the month of January 2019.
